Thoughtful design from an independent design studio.
Three Tails Design is an independent design studio focused on clarity, usability and long-term value.
We design and build websites, brands and digital experiences for organisations who want to communicate clearly and work confidently online. Our work is grounded in structure, purpose and attention to detail, not trends or shortcuts.
Good design shouldn’t shout. It should make things easier, clearer and more effective. That belief shapes everything we do.
Small studio, right people
Three Tails Design is a collaboration of trusted freelance specialists, graphic designers, developers and creatives who are experts in their own fields and share the same values around clarity, quality and collaboration.
This allows us to stay small and focused while scaling thoughtfully when projects need it. You get the right people for the work, without the complexity of a traditional agency.
Every project starts with understanding your organisation, your audience and what success actually looks like. From there, we design and build with structure, usability and intent, shaping solutions that fit the work, not the other way around.
You’ll always know who you’re working with, what’s happening, and why decisions are being made.
The Founder
Three Tails Design was founded by John Hill, a Web Designer and Developer with experience working across education, charities and small businesses.
After years of seeing websites that looked good but didn’t always work as well as they should, John set out to create a studio focused on clarity, usability and honest guidance. John leads every project and works directly with clients, from first conversation through to launch and beyond, ensuring work stays focused, considered and manageable long after it goes live.
The name Three Tails comes from John’s three Cats, ever-present during late-night builds and early-morning planning.
